چکیده
It is known that there a strong association between oxidative stress and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Although the role of glibenclamide treatment has been evaluated, only limited evidence about its antioxidant effects diabetic patients. Moreover, previous studies showed discrepant results regarding metformin on antioxidant/ oxidant parameters The present study aimed to evaluate versus biomarkers, represented by serum malondialdehyde (MDA), nonenzymatic, enzymatic antioxidants Forty-six patients with T2DM participated this categorized into 3 groups, Group A included 17 newly diagnosed patients, group B 15 received monotherapy (1000 mg/day) for up 1 year C 14 (5 year. Serum MDA, catalase (CAT), vitamin C, E, reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured. We found significantly lower concentrations MDA higher levels (CAT, GSH, E) metformin-treated compared counterpart. Our data confirmed more beneficial effect oxidant/antioxidant status glibenclamide, therefore, provides protection against reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced damage during diabetes.

Background: Diabetes is an important risk factor for cardiovascular events. Endothelial dysfunction is the main reason cause of disability and death in diabetic patients and death. The present study investigates the effects of metformin and glibenclamide on vasoconstrictive and vasodilative responses in the diabetic rat aorta. Methods: Rats were divided into four experimental groups (con...

nitric oxide (no) is a small molecule synthesized by most of mammalian cells with diverse biological activities including vasodilatation, host defense and wound healing. impaired wound healing is a common occurrence among diabetics and patients receiving glucocorticoid therapy. on the other hand the application of laser in biomedical area have been increased. thus, the current studies were desi...
15 صفحه اولComparative Study of the Antioxidant Effects of Metformin, Glibenclamide, and Repaglinide in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats.
Diabetes mellitus is one of the serious global health problems affecting a significant proportion of both developed and developing countries. Overproduction of free radicals and oxidative stress has been associated with the development of diabetic complications. In the present study, the antioxidant effects of metformin (MET), glibenclamide (GLI), and repaglinide (REP) were evaluated in alloxan...
